District Statement 3/11/20

Lakeside has been closely monitoring the Novel (new) Coronavirus (COVID-19). We are aware that there has been a presumptive positive COVID-19 case in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

This afternoon, we received the following proclamation from the state:

“It is essential that our schools and educational institutions remain operational in the most practicable manner possible without jeopardizing public safety.”

“The Secretary of Health, in consultation with the Secretary of Education, shall have sole authority to close public school campuses throughout the state for reasons related to COVID-19.”

Lakeside is a 1 to 1 District (1 device for every student) and is prepared to deliver academic instruction using technology anytime school is dismissed for an extended period of time.

Our attendance has remained at approximately 96%; however, Lakeside continues to take precautions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and other viruses (flu, common cold, etc) which include:

  • Routinely fogging and disinfecting the classrooms and school buses
  • Encouraging staff and students to wash their hands frequently with soap and water
  • Ensuring that bathrooms are adequately furnished with soap

How can you help?

  • Make sure your email and phone number are up to date so that we can keep you informed.
  • Continue to practice good hygiene with your students.
  • As always, if your student is experiencing symptoms from illness, stay home.
