Garland County Reads PosterThe premise of Garland County Reads is simple: All elementary families across Garland County read the same children’s book at the same time, making reading a hot topic of discussion throughout the community. Students will read a chapter with their parents, caregivers and/or siblings at home.  During school, children will be involved in activities ranging from discussions to project-based lessons about the book.

Our Third Annual Garland County Reads kickoff event is planned for Tuesday, October 30th, at the Farmer’s Market/Transportation Depot, beginning at 5 PM. Students and families will enjoy visiting booths sponsored by various reading organizations as well as a booth from each district. At one point, the whole celebration will come together to hear the first chapter of  Unusual Chickens For The Exceptional Poultry Farmer by  Kelly Jones, read aloud by various community leaders.
